Operation Paperback is a non-profit, grassroots program founded in 1999.

We collect gently used books and send them to American troops deployed overseas. Many of our troops are serving far from home and living in facilities that provide few of the comforts of home. At the end of the duty day, the opportunity to escape into a good book is welcomed. Every week we receive thanks from troops who are glad to be appreciated and remembered. Our service members make sacrifices every day for our country. It takes so little to let them know that we appreciate what they are doing for us. When you join in Operation Paperback, you will let our troops know that you support them, and you have not forgotten them.

Dear Community,

It is a privilege for me to be your local Operation Paperback Volunteer. Your participation in Operation Paperback - whether collecting or donating books and/or money for the shipping costs or donating your time to pack or help carry boxes into the Post Office - has allowed me to ship over 12,000 books to our troops. This certificate of appreciation, in my name, belongs to all of you. The referenced "care packages" are the boxes of your donated books that have been sent.

Sherry

In addition to sending books to our troops, Operation Paperback has just launched a new initiative of sending free books to our heroes' families that we hope you will be inspired to support.

We are thanking our military families everywhere (including children of wounded warriors) by providing them with a FREE shipment of books!

We need gently-used books for children of all ages, infant through teens, as well as paperback fiction for spouses.

Please also consider having a book drive in your church or school so that our children and youth may have the opportunity to share their books with children whose Moms or Dads are serving in our Military.

Thank you very much for the recent shipment of books.  The Soldiers, Seamen, and Airmen at our unit are always excited when I get a box of books.  We appreciate this ongoing gift of books from Operation Paperback.org, and work of the volunteers that make it happen.

Thanks for sending books for us to read. I've put them in our MWR, so people can pick the ones they like.

Your shipment of books arrived today. They are greatly appreciated. We are a small base high (7,700ft) in the Hindu Kush Mountains of Afghanistan and the books provide a bit of rest from our everyday work. Attached is a photo of a recent bit of snow that came our way.

Thanks again for your support and caring,

Thank you very much for your delivery of the box of books. They have already been distributed and disappeared. Unfortunately, we do not have a library of books and these are appreciated.
