Honoring Those Who Have Served and Those Who Continue to Serve
"The Veterans Herald is owned and operated by military veterans or their immediate family members.
The primary mission of the Veterans Herald is to recognize those who served, and in some cases are still serving, in the uniformed services of the United States through individual profiles.
A daily profile of a veteran will appear on the front page seven days per week. There are no special requirements for this recognition other than the profiled individual is a military veteran with an honorable discharge.
The Veterans Herald is the only media outlet providing this service to veterans on a daily basis.
Stories of interest to veterans, about veterans issues, about military issues and military accomplishments will be included on other pages throughout the site."

BEYOND ORDERS
We would like to let you know about a neat website that is now up and running.
The website is "Beyond Orders," and their mission is to support American soldiers in Iraq who are using their own time and money to make life better for the Iraqi people (especially the children.) These soldiers are teaching kids how to play soccer, are handing out toys in hospitals, are trying to scrounge up school supplies, and are looking for cotton socks and hats for the local Iraqi police forces. Our troops really do rise "beyond the call of duty" to try and make a difference in this difficult part of the world. And they could use our help. The Beyond Orders website matches the soldier requests with American citizens who are able to help.
If you're intrigued by this idea, here's what you need to do. You need to register on the site in order to participate. Then you can browse the soldiers' requests and, if you can help, you can choose to fill all of a request OR only part of it. (You don't have to ship the items yourself ... you are welcome to buy things online and have them shipped to the soldier.) You can also post items that you are willing to donate ..... and then the soldiers are able to browse through your suggestions and contact you if they are able to use them. (For example -- soldiers are asking for soccer balls, but maybe you have access to basketballs or other sports items that children might like. You can post that on the site and see if someone is interested.)
