Yaupon Garden Club dedicates
Blue Star Memorial
at
C. B. Berry Community and Historical Center
November 7, 2008

The Blue Star Memorials, first conceived in 1944 to honor veterans of World War II, became a project of the National Garden Clubs, Inc., in 1946. The name was taken from the Blue Star in the Service Flag that was displayed in the front window of homes which told others that a family member was serving in the Armed Forces. Since that small beginning, hundreds of Memorials have been dedicated by Garden Clubs throughout the Nation honoring our Armed Forces, both past and present.
